While Makoto works at his Mom's store, Ritsuko watches a newscast about the declaration of a Chinatown in Ikebukuro. Ritsuko states her disdain with the declaration and just then a man approaches Makoto wanting to have a word with him.
Later at the Global Ring, the man states that Makoto is the only person in several years to perceive that he's of Chinese descent. He then introduces himself as Lin Gaotai and his background. Lin was recommended by Takashi to help him find a missing girl named Guo Shungui. The place where she works will be holding an inspection in a week's time and if she's missing at that time, it'll cause trouble. This is because she along with all of her co-workers will be deported back to China if she doesn't return in time. They continue their conversation at Nao Ramen and Guo's impoverished background is revealed by Lin. Just then a trio of men belonging to the Donglong Organization, that's connected to Guo's disappearance. Lin handily deals with one of them and they flee. Just then Takashi arrives at the place and takes both Makoto and Lin for a drive. From Takashi, he discloses information given to him by the Hidaka Group that the recent Chinatown Declaration is a front by Donglong. Rumor has it that a Japanese organization and Donglong want to expand into Ikebukuro which could cause a power struggle.
The following day, Lin and Makoto are taken to the Donglong HQ and meet with the Donglong representative Yang Feng. They try and negotiate with him to have him return Guo but he refuses over the work conditions in the factories. Once this is finished the two are returned to Majima Produce where Makoto questions Lin's motives, but Ritsuko stands up for Lin. It's then that Lin's backstory is learned and it convinces Makoto to continue working with Lin.
Eventually, after asking around the town, Makoto and Lin get a lead on Guo's location from Yang. Guo has been working at a hostess club called the China Doll. At the China Doll, Makoto meets Guo who discloses why she left the factory, but is informed by Makoto of the consequences of leaving said factory.
The day after, Lin visits Majima produce and learns from Ritsuko that Makoto is taking Guo out for a day out around Ikebukuro. In the end, Guo decides to go back to the factory, and later that night during a dinner get together with Makoto, Ritsuko, Lin, and Guo. Ritsuko announces that she wants to adopt Guo and she tearfully accepts. With that, Guo's labor contract has been nullified until she's been adopted.
